The Role

Senior Procurement and Commercial Leader with extensive experience leading large, multi-disciplinary procurement teams and delivering complex sourcing strategies across outsourced services portfolios. Proven track record of developing procurement operating models, driving supplier performance, and delivering value through robust commercial governance, contract management, and stakeholder engagement at local, regional, and global levels. Highly experienced in managing risk, improving processes, and embedding best practice procurement frameworks within complex, matrixed organisations.

Key Responsibilities & Achievements

  • Provide senior leadership and formal line management to sizeable procurement teams, overseeing recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and career development to build high-performing, engaged functions.
  • Direct day-to-day operational delivery of procurement activity, including workload planning, resource allocation, deadline management, and cross-skilling to ensure resilience and consistency of service.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of procurement policies, procedures, playbooks, and governance frameworks to support enterprise-wide compliance and consistency.
  • Partner closely with senior business stakeholders, operational leaders, shared service teams, and executive sponsors to develop and execute procurement strategies aligned to organisational objectives.
  • Own end-to-end sourcing activity for high-value, complex outsourced services, including market engagement, competitive tendering, commercial evaluation, negotiation, and contract award.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, ensuring appropriate risk allocation, commercial protections, and alignment with corporate standards and policies.
  • Manage the full contract lifecycle, including renewals, extensions, terminations, and performance management, providing clear visibility of contractual risk and commercial outcomes to senior leadership.
  • Oversee supplier assurance and certification processes, conducting performance reviews and site visits for critical and high-profile suppliers to drive service quality and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and control supplier costs, approving commercial variations and ensuring value for money across large-scale service provider arrangements.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on contemporary outsourcing and procurement best practice, supporting stakeholders across diverse geographies, cultures, and operational environments.
  • Review and approve Requests to Tender, commercial solutions, and final agreements with national and regional suppliers, ensuring compliance with internal governance and approval thresholds.
  • Serve as a key interface with external procurement platforms and utilisation management functions to optimise sourcing outcomes.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating strong ethical leadership and influencing stakeholders to adopt alternative perspectives while operating within policy and governance frameworks.
  • Apply broad commercial and organisational knowledge to resolve complex operational, contractual, and technical challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, modernising procurement processes, systems, and standards to enhance efficiency, transparency, and commercial performance.

Qualifications & Professional Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Professional procurement certification (e.g. CIPS / CPSM / CPM or equivalent), held or eligible
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel-based commercial and financial analysis
  • Strong numerical capability with experience handling complex financial calculations and cost models
